The Splendor Falls

Title: The Splendor Falls
Author: Rosemary Clement-Moore
Release Date: September 8th, 2009
Rating: 2.5-3/5

Hey there
I recently finished reading The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore. She is known for her horror novels including Prom Dates from Hell, which I have also read. Rosemary has never been a stand-out author to me. I think she does better with short stories than with this 513 page novel. To be honest, this book just didn't do it for me. It was funny and scary at points, but when I finished it, I felt like I was just beginning the book. When I say that, I mean the ending of this book felt like the beginning of a different book. All the excitement is packed into the last three chapters. Sure, the rest of it had some funny tid-bits, and some interesting parts, but the build up to the climax was extremely fast. It all happens in an instant and I was left thinking, "That was it?" However, I did love the main character. She was relatable and witty, which I always love. Plus she's a damaged damsel. I don't know about you, but I kind of love it when the protagonist isn't perfect in a book.
Overall, I gave the book 3 out of 5 stars based solely on the humor. This just wasn't a book that stuck out in my head, and I probably won't ever remember that I read it. However, the horror factor in it definitely entertained me and kept me enthralled. I would recommend it for an easy-horror read.

Until next time, Keep Reading!
